Risk-Based vs Annual Breast Cancer Screening: The WISDOM Randomized Clinical Trial

A randomized, multicenter clinical trial of 28,372 women found that risk-based breast cancer screening was noninferior to annual screening. Women in the highest risk category had no stage IIB or higher cancers, and there was no overall reduction in biopsies. However, the rates for cancer detection, biopsy, and mammograms increased with rising risk in the risk-based group.
