Decision aids for people facing health treatment or screening decisions

This review looked at the use of patient decision aids in helping adults reach informed choices. The aids led to large increases in knowledge, accurate risk perceptions, and an active role in decision‐making. The aids increased the patient’s feeling informed and clear about their personal values, while there was no difference in decision regret between people using decision aids vs. those receiving usual care.
