Treatment response assessment using whole body diffusion weighted-magnetic resonance imaging in myeloma: A retrospective cohort study

This bi-institutional study evaluated whole-body diffusion-weighted MRI (WB DW-MRI) for myeloma response assessment in 53 patients. Imaging complete response (49.1%) was associated with superior progression-free survival. The concordance between WB DW-MRI and bone marrow minimal residual disease testing was only slight (kappa = 0.197). WB DW-MRI is established as a feasible response assessment tool with significant prognostic value for modern therapies.
