Outcomes and risk factors for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus lower respiratory tract infections and mortality in patients with lymphoma or multiple myeloma: A 7-year retrospective cohort study

Last Updated: Thursday, April 10, 2025

This retrospective study analyzed respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) or influenza virus (IFV) infections in adults with lymphoma or multiple myeloma (MM) between 2016 and 2022. The study identified risk factors for lower respiratory tract infection (LRI), such as RSV infection and smoking, and mortality, including MM diagnosis and lymphopenia. The findings highlight the significant burden of these infections and suggest strategies for better management of high-risk patients.
