Evaluating pre-transplant nutritional indices as predictors of pneumonia and mortality in multiple myeloma patients post-autologous stem cell transplantation

Last Updated: Friday, November 21, 2025

This retrospective study analyzed 286 multiple myeloma patients undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). The goal was to investigate if pre-transplant nutritional indices—Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index, Prognostic Nutritional Index, and Controlling Nutritional Status score—predict post-transplant pneumonia or one-year mortality. Findings revealed no statistically significant association between these indices and either the incidence of pneumonia or one-year survival after ASCT.
