Dural-based plasmacytoma presenting as the initial sign of multiple myeloma
Last Updated: Friday, October 24, 2025
This case study concerns a patient who presented with a dural-based plasmacytoma that initially mimicked a meningioma. The unique skull swelling spontaneously regressed before rapidly progressing and causing hemiparesis. Gross total resection was performed, and histopathology confirmed a plasma cell neoplasm that proved to be an initial manifestation of multiple myeloma. The case stresses the importance of crucial preoperative systemic evaluation for MM.
