Tobacco use in the myeloproliferative neoplasms: symptom burden, patient opinions, and care

According to data from a cross-sectional study of 435 patients with MPNs, current and former smokers experienced a higher total symptom burden (mean 30.4 vs. 27.0, p = 0.07), compared with never smokers. Overall quality of life was also significantly better among never smokers compared with current/former smokers (mean 3.5 vs. 3.9, p = 0.03).
