Second versus first wave of COVID-19 in patients with MPN

Compared to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic (February 15 to June 30, 2020), patients with MPNs and COVID-19 during the second wave (July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021) were younger, had with fewer comorbidities, and presented with more moderate COVID-19 infection. According to data from 39 hematologic centers across Italy, Spain, Germany, France, the UK, Poland, and Croatia, survival during the first and second wave at 60 days after COVID-19 diagnosis among this patient population was also statistically different (69% vs. 91%, respectively; P < 0.001).
