Second cancers in MPN: Survival analysis from an international study
Last Updated: Monday, June 29, 2020
Data from a previous nested case control study found that 1 out of 10 patients with an MPN develop a second cancer (SC). Of those patients, 26.2% were diagnosed with a poor-prognosis SC, with a mortality rate of 11 per 100 person-years, compared with 4.6 per 100 person-years in the non–poor-prognosis group. The SC was associated with 65% of deaths in the poor-prognosis group, versus 31% in the non–poor-prognosis group.
