In‐hospital outcomes of acute myocardial infarction with essential thrombocythemia and polycythemia vera: Insights from the National Inpatient Sample

According to data from the US National Inpatient Sample, patients hospitalized for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) who had essential thrombocythemia (ET) experienced an increased risk of bleeding compared to patients without ET (12.6% vs. 6.1%; odds ratio, 2.22 [95% CI: 1.70-2.90]), after propensity score matching. Researchers observed no difference among patients hospitalized with AMI who had polycythemia vera (PV) vs. those without PV.
