Healthcare resource utilization in myeloproliferative neoplasms: A population-based study from Ontario, Canada
Last Updated: Monday, June 29, 2020
A population-based, retrospective matched-cohort study of 7130 patients with MPNs showed that acute hospital care is the largest healthcare expense among this patient population (57% of the total cost for those with essential thrombocythemia [ET] and polycythemia vera [PV], and 66% for myelofibrosis patients). Further, ET and PV patients with a history of venous thrombosis were found to have significantly higher treatment costs (p < 0.05).
