Implementation of risk-stratified breast cancer prevention with a polygenic risk score test in clinical practice

Last Updated: Wednesday, November 22, 2023

Researchers endeavored to develop a clinical-grade polygenic risk score (PRS) test that incorporates numerous genetic variants to achieve a personalized risk-based screening for breast cancer that takes more than age into account. Previously published PRS models for predicting breast cancer risk were validated using two data sets, with the best performing model independently validated and put through a risk simulation. After risk-based recommendations were developed and the model was implemented in clinical practice, a retrospective analysis of the PRS test’s performance results was carried out
