Impact of chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) on patients’ employment, income, and informal caregiver burden: Findings from the Living with Chronic GVHD Patient Survey

According to data from the Living with Chronic GVHD (cGVHD) Patient Survey, HSCT survivors who develop cGVHD are vulnerable to employment changes and financial hardship. Among those employed full- or part-time during their most recent transplantation (n = 80), 61.3% took disability leave, 58.8% worked reduced hours, 27.5% took a less demanding job, 33.8% left a job because of cGVHD, and 71.3% believed they had lost income due to cGVHD.
