The efficacy of a comprehensive bone health program in maintaining bone mineral density in postmenopausal women with early-stage breast cancer treated with endocrine therapy: real-world data
Last Updated: Tuesday, March 22, 2022
According to results from a real-world study, implementing a comprehensive bone health program—that provides counseling, exercise, nutritional advice, vitamin D supplements, and bisphosphonate infusion—for postmenopausal patients with early-stage breast cancer treated with aromatase inhibitors who have initiated endocrine therapy may help stabilize or improve patients' bone mineral density (BMD). Among the 210 patients in the trial, 84.2% with baseline osteoporosis and 68.3% with osteopenia had a stable or better BMD after participating in the program.
