Last Updated: Monday, June 27, 2022
In an analysis comparing changes in bone mineral density (BMD) within and outside the radiation field among women who received pelvic radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy for cervical cancer, results showed significant BMD declines in all four lumbar vertebral bodies over time (P<0.05). At 3 months and 2 years post-treatment, BMD within the RT field had improved (P=0.037) but was no different outside the RT field.
