Last Updated: Thursday, July 17, 2025

A case study of a 56-year-old man with chronic myelofibrosis and chronic kidney disease who exhibited the sclerosing variant of extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) in the kidney. This manifestation of EMH is rare and may mimic renal tumors, which can lead to unnecessary surgical interventions. The researchers concluded that this case study highlights the need to understand the histopathological and clinical characteristics of sclerosing EMH in the kidney for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
