Statin exposure after multiple myeloma diagnosis and risk of all-cause mortality, venous thromboembolism, pathological fractures, and acute kidney injury: a propensity score-matched retrospective cohort study
Last Updated: Wednesday, August 19, 2026
This retrospective study of 14,334 matched multiple myeloma patients evaluated post-diagnosis statin exposure on five-year outcomes. Statin use was associated with a 41% lower hazard of death, a 31% reduction in venous thromboembolism, and a 46% reduction in pathological fractures. The study suggests statins may offer benefits as an adjunctive management strategy.
