Bone progression in multiple myeloma: Benefit of zoledronic acid for patients achieving at least Very Good Partial Response and prognostic value of bone turnover markers

Researchers examined two overlapping subpopulations from the Magnolia trial and found that continuing zoledronic acid beyond 2 years significantly reduces progressive bone disease risk in patients with multiple myeloma, even those achieving a very good partial response. Furthermore, elevated bone resorption markers like CTX and TRAcP can help identify individuals at higher risk for skeletal progression following treatment cessation.
