Impact of anti-endothelial cell antibodies (AECAs) in patients with polycythemia vera and thrombosis

Last Updated: Monday, October 3, 2022

In a study of blood samples from 60 patients with polycythemia vera, those with thrombosis—compared to those without—had higher JAK2 V617F allele burden (75% vs. 25%; P <.001), Th17 levels (0.85 + 0.48% vs. 0.40 + 0.22%; P <.004), and IL-17 levels (6.30 + 0.8 pg/mL vs. 3.20 + 0.9 pg/mL; P <.005). Those with thrombosis also demonstrated a significantly higher enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) ratio in IgG anti-endothelial cell antibodies (AECAs; 25.1 + 10.1), compared to those without thrombosis (1.8 + 2.0) and the control group (1.7 + 2.2).
