Survival trends of gastrointestinal stromal tumor in real-world settings: A population-based retrospective study

This study of over 4,000 GIST patients found that survival outcomes significantly improved between 2000 and 2009, with 2005 being a turning point for reduced mortality. However, no substantial survival improvement was observed from 2010 to 2019. Older patients and those with tumors outside the GI tract face a higher risk of mortality. Further strategies are needed to enhance survival.
