Rectovaginal extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs): A systematic review of the literature and a pooled survival analysis

This systematic review is of rectovaginal extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs), which are uncommon tumors arising outside the digestive tract. The review analyzed data from 40 female patients, finding that these tumors are often asymptomatic, making diagnosis difficult. While surgical removal is the primary treatment, often combined with targeted drug therapy, recurrence is frequent due to the challenging location. The study emphasizes the need for more research to improve the management and outcomes for patients with this rare condition.
