Prolonged survival of a case with three different malignancies - cutaneous malignant melanoma, gastrointestinal stromal tumor and thyroid papillary cancer: A case report

This case report details a patient with an exceptionally rare combination of three primary cancers: Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), and cutaneous malignant melanoma. The patient received comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment including surgery and imatinib for GIST, thyroidectomy for PTC, and various systemic and local therapies for metastatic melanoma. Despite the melanoma's poor prognosis, the patient achieved prolonged survival, underscoring the effectiveness of integrated, targeted oncological approaches.
