A retrospective study comparing laparoscopic versus open resection for EGJ-GIST indicates that the laparoscopic approach provides significant perioperative advantages. These benefits include reduced blood loss, faster gastrointestinal recovery, and shorter hospital stays. Crucially, long-term overall survival and recurrence rates were found to be comparable between both surgical groups. Therefore, laparoscopy is recommended as a safe and effective minimally invasive treatment option.
