Last Updated: Monday, April 28, 2025
This study investigated psychosocial distress in adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer. Researchers analyzed data from a longitudinal cohort of 830 participants. Initially, higher social support correlated with higher distress, while higher depressive symptoms were linked to seeking mental health support. Over time, anxiety remained stable, but depressive symptoms improved. The Young Advisory Panel emphasized the complex role of social support and the need to address distress.
