Diagnostic value of gastrin-releasing peptide receptor-targeted pet imaging in oncology: A systematic review

GRPR-targeted PET imaging shows promise in improving cancer diagnostics, especially in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer, prostate cancer, and gliomas. Gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) is overexpressed in various cancers, making it a valuable target for positron emission tomography (PET). GRPR antagonists may be safer and show better tumor uptake compared to agonists. For gastrointestinal stromal tumors, GRPR-targeted PET imaging is a valuable diagnostic tool, especially when [18F] FDG PET results are inconclusive.
