Coverage and cost-of-care links: Addressing financial toxicity among patients with hematologic cancer and their caregivers

Looking across all hematologic malignancies, the authors of this article explore the success of a detailed intervention led by a financial navigator, Coverage and Cost-of-Care Links (CC Links) in decreasing financial toxicity among patients and their caregivers. The article explains the creation and implementation of CC Links and provides separate data for patients vs. caregivers. For example, enrollment for caregivers was 100% for caregivers but only 27% for patients, although both groups found the intervention to be equally acceptable (89%) and appropriate (88%). Financial navigator services were found to result in approximately $2,500 in savings per participant.
