Cancer death rate drops by 33%, AACR report shows

Last Updated: Tuesday, October 24, 2023

Although not specific to CLL, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) recently released its annual Cancer Progress Report, which revealed that the age-adjusted overall cancer death rate in the United States fell by 33% between 1991 and 2020 - an estimated 3.8 million cancer deaths averted. The decrease was partially attributed to the significant number of immunotherapy approvals over the past several years, as well as the more recent CAR T-cell therapy approvals.
