CAR T-cell toxicities: From bedside to bench, how novel toxicities inform laboratory investigations

Last Updated: Tuesday, December 9, 2025

The American Society of Hematology Subcommittee on Emerging Gene and Cell Therapies held its first workshop on CAR T-cell toxicities. The workshop focused on emerging adverse events, underlying mechanisms, and gaps in clinical monitoring tools. Key takeaways included the need for mechanistic studies to improve detection and prevention, recognition of systemic immune dysregulation as a central factor in these emergent toxicities, and consensus on creating a repository to capture real-world toxicity data and management approaches.
